MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team wrapped up its non-conference schedule Tuesday
night by sweeping the Beloit College Buccaneers 3-0 in its first
and only non-league home match of the season at the Recreation
Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which improved to 19-11 overall, won all
three sets by identical 25-17 scores. With two guaranteed matches
left on their schedule, the Warriors are just one win shy of their
first 20-win season since 2004.
Senior Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) paced
WLC with 11 kills, while sophomore Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was close behind with 10. Sophomore Mariah
Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) recorded 19 assists and
freshman Beth Baxter (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) chipped in with
12. Baxter also added 12 digs defensively for a double-double.
Sophomore Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./.Lakeside Lutheran)
had a match-high 15 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran hit .364 for the match, while holding Beloit
to just a .176 attack percentage.
The Buccaneers (1-20) were led by Carolyn Stransky's 25 assists
and Julianne Gruenhagen's 11 digs.
The Warriors (19-11, 8-3 NAC) conclude their regular season
schedule tomorrow at the Recreation Complex when they host
Benedictine University (16-10, 9-2 NAC) on Senior Night. A win over
the Eagles would guarantee WLC the second seed in next week's
eight-team NAC Tournament.
