MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team won its second straight game with a 1-0 shutout
victory over Maranatha Baptist Bible College on Saturday afternoon
at Warrior Field.
It was the foot of junior Florin Maduta (Waterford,
Wis./Waterford) that sent WLC to the victory over the Crusaders
(4-7, 1-5 NAC) as he scored the game's lone goal at the 22:57 mark
of the first half to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead.
Wisconsin Lutheran out-shot the Crusaders 10-7 in the opening
half as sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Ulwelling (Libertyville,
Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) stopped five shots in the first 45 minutes
of play.
The second half would see no scoring as Maranatha held a 9-5
edge in shots after halftime. Ulwelling completed the shutout as he
recorded three more saves to give the Warriors the 1-0 victory.
Senior Trevor Schwartz (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran)
tallied four shots for the forest green and white, while
Maranatha's Drew Delozier tied Schwartz with a game-high four shots
as well. MBBC's keeper Mark McIntyre made three saves in the loss
for the Crusaders.
The Warriors (5-6, 2-4 NAC) search for their third straight win
tomorrow afternoon when they host Eureka College (2-7) in a
non-conference match. Game time at Warrior field is set for 2
p.m.
