MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's tennis team improved to 6-0 in the Northern Athletics
Conference by sweeping crosstown foe Milwaukee School of
Engineering 9-0 on Tuesday at McKinley Courts. It was the fourth
sweep of the season for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran began the day by easily winning its three
doubles matches over the rival Raiders. At #1 doubles, junior
Kaitlyn Strehlow (Hales Corners, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and
freshman Stephanie Gengler (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) shutout Carol
Cayo and Courtney Grant, 8-0. Junior Kathryn Hendee (Rockton,
Ill./Hononegah) teamed with sophomore Lindsay Gauger (Rockford,
Mich./Rockford) to defeat Samantha Pekarscik and Julie Burg at #2,
8-3. Sophomore Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther
Preparatory) and freshman Alyssa Strangstalien (Cottage Grove,
Wis./Monona Grove) concluded doubles action at #3 with a 8-0 sweep
over Heather Miller and Marguerit Wellstein.
The Warriors continued their impressive play by winning each of
their singles matches in straight sets. Strehlow was a 6-0, 6-0
winner over Cayo at #1. Pearson triumphed over Pekarscik at #2,
6-1, 6-3. At #3, Hendee collected a 6-0, 6-2 win over Grant.
Gengler won WLC's closest-contested match at #4 over Burg, 7-5,
6-2. Strangstalien secured a 6-2, 6-3 win over Marly Trier at #5,
while freshman Petra Krause (Oshkosh, Wis./West) wrapped up the
action at #6 by blanking Wellstein, 6-0, 6-3.
WLC (7-3, 6-0 NAC) returns home from its six-match road swing on
Saturday when it hosts Rockford College (9 a.m.) and Edgewood
College (2 p.m.) in a conference double-dual at the Princeton
Club.
