OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team concluded play at the University of
Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday by splitting a pair of
matches against Carroll University and Lakeland College at the Kolf
Sports Center.
In their opening match of the tournament's second day, the
Warriors fell to Carroll for the second time this season, 3-0. The
Pioneers won the opening set 25-18, before taking the final two
sets by closely-contested and identical 26-24 scores.
Senior Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was
the only Warrior to tally double-digit kills in the match with 10.
She was one of 10 players who were named to the All-Tournament
Team.
Sophomore Mariah Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) recorded
20 assists, while freshman teammate Beth Baxter (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) added 11. Senior Jenna Neuberger (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) registered 12 digs to lead WLC
defensively.
The forest green and white rebounded in their second match of
the day by defeating fellow NAC member Lakeland, 3-1. The game did
not count in the NAC standings.
The Warriors took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-15 before
dropping the third set, 26-24. The fourth and final set went to
Wisconsin Lutheran, 25-17.
Johnson again led the Warriors attack as she hammered down 13
kills, while sophomore teammate Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added nine.
Bukiewicz posted her second straight 20-assist game, while
Baxter assisted on 14 Warrior kills.
Neuberger again paced the club in digs with 15 and was one of
three players to reach double-digit totals in the match. Bukiewicz
collected 14 and sophomore Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) contributed with 12 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-8, 0-2 NAC) returns to action Wednesday
night in search of its first NAC win by hosting Edgewood College.
Action at the Recreation Complex will begin at 7 p.m.
