MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team claimed its sixth straight match win Tuesday night
with a 3-0 triumph over Lakeland College at the Recreation
Complex.
The Warriors won in straight sets for the third time during
their winning streak as they took the back-and-forth opening set,
25-23. WLC then controlled the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and
25-16.
Sophomore Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
led the way for the forest green and white as she tied a match-high
with nine kills and zero hitting errors. Greenfield also had three
straight aces in the final set of the night.
Sophomore Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
also recorded nine kills and led the Warriors with a .538 hitting
percentage. Senior Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) had seven kills, while leading the team with 14 digs.
Freshman Beth Baxter (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) played all
the points at setter for Wisconsin Lutheran and assisted on 27 of
the Warriors' 34 kills. Baxter also added eight digs. Sophomore
Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) added nine digs,
while she and Neuberger each had a pair of service aces.
As a team, the Warriors finished with a .197 hitting percentage
and a .387 percentage in set two as they hammered down 14
kills.
Lakeland (4-14, 1-2 NAC), which was held to just a .077 hitting
percentage, was led by Amanda Dillman's eight kills.
Wisconsin Lutheran (9-8, 2-2 NAC) looks to keep its winning
streak alive tomorrow when it travels to face 16th-ranked
University of Chicago (15-1) in a non-conference match. Game time
at the Ratner Center is set for 7 p.m.
