LISLE, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team moved to 5-0 in the Northern Athletics
Conference with a 75-56 victory over Benedictine Saturday afternoon
at the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
The Warriors got rolling right away by building a 24-7 lead with
11:05 remaining in the first half. The Eagles (4-9, 1-5 NAC) cut
Wisconsin Lutheran's lead to nine points, but WLC expanded its
advantage to 12 points as it led 39-27 at the break. Benedictine
got no closer in the second half as the Warriors coasted to the
19-point victory.
Krissy Day (West Allis, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led Wisconsin
Lutheran as she scored 16 points by making 5-of-8 shots from behind
the arc. For the game, Wisconsin Lutheran made nine three-pointers
as Rachel Hoft (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Alyssa Allister
(Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each drained two from
downtown.
Allister and Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
each finished in double figures to help aid the Warriors offense
with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Jenna Neuberger (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) scored seven points and pulled down a
team-high 11 rebounds.
The host Eagles were led by Kam Haifleigh and Katie Hunzinger as
both players scored a team-best 12 points. Hunzinger also pulled
down a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Warriors defense proved to be challenging for Benedictine
all game as they held the Eagles to just 31.4 percent (17-for-54)
shooting from the floor. Conversely, WLC connected on 43.9 percent
(29-for-66) of its shots in the contest.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-3, 5-0 NAC) returns to action Tuesday
night when it hosts Concordia Wisconsin (8-5, 8-1 NAC) in a matchup
that features the top two teams in the NAC North Division. Tip-off
between the Warriors and Falcons is set for 7 p.m. at the
