HOLLAND, Mich. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team fell to fifth-ranked Hope and second-ranked Calvin
Friday at the Midwest Invitational hosted by Hope at the DeVos
Fieldhouse.
The Warriors dropped their first match of the day 25-9, 25-18,
25-12 against fifth-ranked Hope (19-2). Offensively, Erin
Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Kelli Johnson
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led WLC with six kills apiece.
Steph Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) led the Warriors with 15
assists, while Erin Greenfield also led the team in digs with
10.
Jenna Grasmeyer led Hope with 13 kills, while Greer Bratschie
chipped in 29 assists. Jessica Maier added 19 digs.
The Warriors faced second-ranked Calvin (19-1) in their second
match Friday and fell in three sets 25-14, 25-18, 25-21. Erin
Greenfield led the offensive attack for WLC with 12 kills and three
service aces. Cox added 25 assists, while Heather Tompkins
(Menomonee Falls, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) contributed 17
digs.
For Calvin, Lizzie Kamp led the team with 11 kills, while Megan
Rietema supplied 28 assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-13, 5-4 NAC) resumes Midwest Invitational
play tomorrow against #9 Elmhurst at 12 p.m. and #17
Wis.-Whitewater at 2 p.m.
