MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team won its fourth straight Northern Athletics
Conference match Tuesday night as they swept Concordia Chicago 3-0
at the Recreation Complex.
The Warriors and Cougars played very evenly in the first two
sets as WLC escaped with 25-22 and 25-23 wins, respectively. WLC
dominated the third and final set en route to a 25-15 win to earn
the sweep.
Wisconsin Lutheran was zoned in offensively all evening as the
Warriors finished the match with a .223 attack percentage
(34-13-94) compared to a .137 attack percentage (35-22-95) for
visiting CUC.
Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led the way
for WLC as she tallied a team-high 12 kills and finished with a
.524 attack percentage (12-1-21). Katie Molter (Oostburg,
Wis./Oostburg) finished with seven kills and zero errors in 11
chances. Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added
11 kills and eight digs for WLC, while Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) led the team with nine digs.
A large factor for the high attack percentage Tuesday was senior
setter Steph Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran). Cox finished with 26
assists while adding six digs.
Concordia Chicago (4-16, 2-8 NAC) was led by Claire Mackey and
Bianca Gordon as the duo finished with 16 and 13 kills,
respectively. Jenna Boggs finished with a match-high 31
assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran (13-15, 6-4 NAC) looks to extend its
conference winning streak to five matches Friday night when it
travels to face Maranatha (13-3, 6-3 NAC). The Warriors and
Crusaders will begin play at 7 p.m. at Maranatha Gymnasium in
Watertown, Wis.
