WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College volleyball team had its four-match conference winning
streak snapped as the Warriors fell to Maranatha 3-0 Friday night
at Maranatha Gymnasium.
The Crusaders took the opening game 25-19 and followed that with
a 25-21 set two win. Maranatha completed the sweep with a 25-18
final set victory. Despite the loss, WLC still clinched a spot in
the NAC Tournament after MSOE fell to Lakeland 3-1 Friday
night.
Steph Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) finished with a
double-double for Wisconsin Lutheran as she tallied a match-best 34
assists, while finishing with a team-high 10 digs. Erin Greenfield
(Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) recorded nine digs and Kayla
Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) added eight.
Wisconsin Lutheran had two players finish with double-digit
kills on the evening as Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) and Greenfield led the team with 13 and 11 kills,
respectively. Johnson finished the match with a .357 attack
percentage.
Maranatha (14-3, 7-3 NAC) was led by Torey DeLozier as she
recorded 22 of the team's 34 kills for the match. Emily Thompson
dished out 14 assists, while Hallie Sheley and Erin Jochum chipped
in with 13 and 11 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran (13-16, 6-5 NAC) concludes its regular season
schedule Wednesday when it hosts Benedictine (22-3, 9-1 NAC) in a
conference match at the Recreation Complex. The Senior Night
contest between the Warriors and Eagles is set to begin at 7
p.m.
