GLENDALE, Wis. - After moving to three separate
court locations due to rain and court time, the Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's tennis team finally finished its fall season with
an 8-1 win over Alverno Wednesday night.
It took three different locations for the Warriors to come away
with the win as the match started outdoors before being moved
indoors due to inclement weather. The indoor courts were only
available for limited time so WLC and AC moved back outdoors to a
third location to complete the match.
The Warriors swept doubles play to begin the dual as they built
a 3-0 lead. The #2 doubles team of Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac,
Wis./Luthere Preparatory) and Alyssa Strangstalien (Cottage Grove,
Wis./Monona Grove) and #3 duo of Terri Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox
Valley Lutheran) and Petra Krause (Oshkosh, Wis./West) had little
trouble en route to 8-0 and 8-1 wins, respectively. Also gaining a
win in doubles was the #1 team of Kathryn Hendee (Rockton,
Ill./Hononegah) and Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph) who
won a tightly-contested 9-7 battle.
Wisconsin Lutheran had success in singles play as well, winning
five of six matches en route to the 8-1 victory. Pearson netted a
win at #2 singles 6-2, 6-0, while Bonnin rolled to a #3 singles
victory 6-0, 6-2. Also gaining wins in singles play were
Strangstalien and Glasel at #4 and #5 singles, respectively.

Alverno (3-8, 3-8 NAC) gained its only victory of the night at
#1 singles where Tricia Goska rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 win.
