WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's soccer team evened its Northern Athletics Conference
record to 3-3 with a 4-2 win over Maranatha Saturday at Maranatha
Field.
The Warriors, who won their second straight game, scored early
in the contest off a Josh Higginson (Lyons, Wis./Burlington) goal
to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. That lead would stay intact
through the remainder of the first 45 minutes.
Wisconsin Lutheran scored three times in the second half of
action, receiving goals again from Higginson, Reed Luengen
(Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and lastly on a converted penalty kick from
Mavric Otterstatter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran).
The Crusaders (5-8-0, 1-5-0 NAC) made a charge with a pair of
second-half scores, but the Warriors were able to hold on and
remain in postseason contention with five conference games left on
the schedule. Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) earned the win in
net for WLC.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-6-0, 3-3-0 NAC) returns to the pitch
Wednesday for a crucial NAC road matchup against Benedictine
(2-10-0, 2-4-0 NAC). The Warriors and Eagles are scheduled to start
at 7 p.m. at the Lisle-BenU Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.
