MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team started Saturday night's game against MSOE
with a 12-0 run and never looked back as the Warriors ran past the
Raiders 70-36 at the Kern Center. The win was the third straight
for WLC.
Wisconsin Lutheran controlled the game from the opening tip as
the Warriors scored the first 12 points and 16 of the first 18 to
build an early 16-2 lead just four minutes into play. WLC would
continue its first half dominance as the Warriors took a 34-9 lead
into halftime.
The second half saw much of the same as the Warriors coasted to
the 38-point win, including leading by a game-high 42 points,
66-24, with 4:46 remaining in the contest. WLC led by at least 23
points throughout the entire second half.
Shavon Dillon (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) paced the Warriors
balanced offensive attack as the senior guard scored 13 points on
5-for-7 shooting. Joining Dillon in double digits for Wisconsin
Lutheran were junior Rachel Hoft (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and
sophomroe Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) as each
player finished with 10 points. Schulz also grabbed a game-best 12
rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Junior Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added
nine points and 10 rebounds for Wisconsin Lutheran, while senior
guard Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) dished
out a game-high five assists, more assists than the entire MSOE
team (four).
MSOE (0-4, 0-2 NAC) was led by Shannon Larson who scored a
game-best 16 points. Courtney Samuels pulled down 10 rebounds for
the host Raiders, who were held to 23.3 percent (10-for-43)
shooting by the stifling Warriors defense.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-1, 2-0 NAC) returns to action Tuesday when it
visits Dominican (0-6, 0-2) in a rematch of last year's Northern
Athletics Conference Tournament Championship game. Tip-off between
the Warriors and Stars is set for 7 p.m. at the Igini Sports Forum
in River Forest, Ill. Fans can follow the action via live audio,
