KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip to Florida with
a pair of losses on Thursday, falling to St. Scholastica (Minn.)
and Franklin and Marshall (Pa.) at the Oak Street Courts in
Kissimmee, Fla.
In their first match of the day, the Warriors fell to St.
Scholastica (6-4) 7-2 as WLC picked up a win in both singles and
doubles play.
Freshman Stephanie Gengler (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) defeated Alex
Ochrymowicz at #5 singles as she rallied to a three-set 5-7, 6-2,
10-4 victory. In doubles play, the #1 team of Kaitlyn Strehlow
(Hales Corners, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Kathryn Hendee
(Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) picked up a victory as they downed the
Saints' Hillary Bungarden and Rachel Zwiener, 8-5.
Match two saw the Warriors take on the Diplomats of Franklin &
Marshall (3-2). That dual match was all Diplomats as Franklin &
Marshall won all nine flights for the 9-0 win.
Hendee played the closest match of the dual for Wisconsin
Lutheran as she battled at #1 singles versus Anya Sahaydachny,
falling in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Wisconsin Lutheran (11-9) returns to the courts on Saturday, March
24 when it plays two non-conference dual matches at the Frank
Farber Tennis Courts in Dubuque, Iowa. The Warriors will play host
Dubuque at 9 a.m. and then take on Monmouth (Ill.) at 12 p.m..
