WAUWATOSA, Wis. -
The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team remained
unbeaten in Northern Athletics Conference play after rolling to a
9-0 win over MSOE Tuesday at Hart Park.
The Warriors began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches
led by the #1 tandem of Kaitlyn Strehlow (Hales Corners,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Stephanie Gengler (Slinger,
Wis./Slinger). Strehlow and Gengler had no problem with the
Raiders' (1-3, 1-3 NAC) top team as they cruised to an 8-2
victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran also collected relatively easy wins at #2 and #3
doubles by winning those matches by wide margins. The #2 team
of Kathryn Hendee (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) and Kendall Bonnin
(Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph) picked up an 8-1 win, while the #3 duo
of Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and
Alyssa Strangstalien (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) did not
lose a game en route to an 8-0 victory.
WLC also gained six wins in singles competition as it took each
match in straight sets. It was Hendee who picked up the win at #1
singles 6-1, 6-0, while Pearson had little trouble at #2 singles,
winning her match 6-2, 6-4.
Bonnin won her match at #3 singles 6-2, 6-1, while senior Terri
Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) gained a 6-4, 6-0 win
at the #4 position. Petra Krause (Oshkosh, Wis./West) did not drop
a game as she took her #5 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Kalyn Geddes
(Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) rounded out the Warriors lineup
with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-2, 5-0 NAC) puts its perfect conference
record on the line Thursday when it takes on Alverno (2-4, 2-4
NAC). The Warriors and Inferno will begin play at 4 p.m. at Nicolet
High School in Glendale, Wis.
