MILWAUKEE - Beloit's Aaron Clark broke a
scoreless tie five minutes into overtime to send the visiting
Buccaneers past Wisconsin Lutheran College 1-0 in a non-conference
men's soccer contest Wednesday night at Warrior Field.
The Warriors and Buccaneers played an even first half as Beloit
held a slight edge in opening-half shots, 6-3. Wisconsin Lutheran
did fire the only shot on net in the opening 45 minutes, but BC
keeper BJ Kiser made the only save in the period.
The second half was much of the same as the Buccaneers held another
slight edge in shots, 7-4. Warriors goalkeeper Jon Stewart
(Waukesha, Wis./South) made saves on the only two shots he faced in
the second half.
Then came the extra frame where Beloit (3-1-0) scored exactly
five minutes into the period when Clark found the back of the net
after Marc Robinson hit the wide post. Clark was there waiting for
the rebound as Beloit escaped with the 1-0 win.
Austin Drake (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) led Wisconsin Lutheran
with four shots in the game, including two on goal. Jackson Wilkins
also had four shots to lead Beloit.
Stewart finished with two saves for WLC, while his counterpart,
Kiser, tallied three to earn the victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-2-0) returns to the pitch Friday when it
begins a stretch of three games in three days by hosting Spalding
(2-2-0) in a non-conference contest. The match between the Warriors
and Golden Eagles begins at 4 p.m. at Warrior Field.
