OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team returned to Wis.-Oshkosh for the second day of
Pizza Hut Classic Saturday. The Warriors won their first match
against Carroll, while dropping their second match to the host
Titans.
In the opening match versus the Pioneers, the Warriors took a
two-set lead, winning the first 25-21 and the second 25-20. Carroll
(3-8) took set three, 25-23, but WLC bounced back to take the
fourth set, 29-27. Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) led the offensive attack with 18 kills, while Erin
Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 15. Steph Cox
(Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) added 52 assists in the match. Kayla
Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) paced the Warriors
with 24 digs.
Kelly Sloyan and Katrina Zenz led CU with 12 kills apiece, while
Samantha Derynda pitched in with 45 assists.
In the Warriors second match of the day, Wis.-Oshkosh (11-5)
proved to be too much, defeating the Warriors 25-13, 25-19 and
25-19. Erin Greenfield led the WLC attack with 10 kills. Cox added
27 assists, while Ridgeman tallied 18 digs.
For Oshkosh, Brianna Wagner led the attack with 11 kills, while
Morgan Liebetrau added 20 assists.
Alayna Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was named
to the All-Tournament Team.
WLC (5-7, 0-2 NAC) will return to the court Wednesday for a
Northern Athletics Conference matchup against Edgewood (7-4, 1-1
NAC). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Todd Wehr
Edgedome in Madison, Wis.
