MADISON, Wis. -
The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team was defeated by
Edgewood in four sets Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics
Conference match at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The Eagles took the first set of the match 25-20, but WLC responded
with a 25-23 second set victory after finishing with a .432 hitting
percentage in the set. Edgewood had the final answer as it won the
last two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-15.
Despite the loss, junior Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) continued her strong play as she recorded her seventh
straight double-double. Greenfield led the Warriors with 12 kills,
while adding 11 digs.
Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) led all players
with 28 digs and Alayna Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) added 10 digs for Wisconsin Lutheran. Steph Cox
(Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) dished out 31 assists.
Edgewood (9-4, 2-1 NAC) was led by Mallory Palmer who recorded a
double-double with a game-high 20 kills and a team-best 19 digs.
Jessica Martin tallied 12 kills for EC, while Lindsey Swansby
posted a match-best 49 assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran (5-8, 0-3 NAC) returns to action this weekend
when it competes in the Linda Slagell Classic Friday and Saturday
in Decatur, Ill. The Warriors will play two matches Friday against
Concordia Wisconsin (3-11) and Illinois Wesleyan (7-7) at the
Griswold Center on the campus of Millikin.
