Box Score Box score APPLETON, Wis. -

The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime against Lawrence in a non-conference game at Whiting Field West Monday afternoon.

It was Oliver Newsom of the Vikings who netted the game-winner as he scored 4:48 into overtime in a scrum in front of the net to give Lawrence the 1-0 win. Dan O'Mahoney and David Caprile were credited with assists on the Newsom goal.

The opening half saw the host Vikings out-shoot WLC 5-0 as Warriors goalkeeper Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) made four saves in the first 45 minutes to preserve the scoreless half.

Wisconsin Lutheran applied the majority of its offensive attack in the second half as it held a 9-5 shots advantage over the next 45 minutes of play. Five of the Warriors' nine shots in the second half were on goal as Kevin Aslett made five saves for LU. Stewart recorded two second-half saves for WLC and finished with six for the game. The Newsom goal was the only shot of overtime for either team.

Lawrence (4-4-1) held a slight 11-9 edge in shots for the game as the Warriors' Nate Wasser (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and the Vikings' Cameron Pieper led all players with three shots apiece.

Wisconsin Lutheran (6-4-0, 1-1-0 NAC) returns to the pitch Wednesday when it hosts six-time defending Northern Athletics Conference champion Dominican (5-1-1, 2-0-0 NAC). DU is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. Game time between the Warriors and Stars is set for 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
