MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team was defeated by 13th-ranked Dominican 4-0 in a
Northern Athletics Conference match Wednesday night at Warrior
Field.
The Stars, who have yet to lose a NAC match since the league's
2006 inception, scored twice in the opening 45 minutes of action.
David Aranda (16:18) and Trent Miller (30:22) both netted score's
for DU, with assists by Miller and Ryan Ybarra.
Junior Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) made four saves for
the Warriors as the Stars attempted 13 first-half shots.
Wisconsin Lutheran held the Stars in check for the first 30-plus
minutes of the second half before the visitors struck. DU's Billy
Eddy (75:11) and Andy Lynch (88:28) scored the final two goals of
the contest, the first of which was aided again by Miller.
Freshmen Reed Luengen (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), Matt Schmidt
(Wauwatosa, Wis./East) and Austin Drake (East Troy, Wis./East Troy)
tallied the three shots for the Warriors in the match. Stewart
added two saves to his tally and finished with six for the
game.
Ybarra and Marco Alvarez each totaled four shots to lead the
Stars (6-1-1, 3-0-0 NAC). Max Gutbrod collected the win in net for
DU.
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-5-0, 1-2-0 NAC) will be back in action
Saturday when it faces cross-town NAC foe MSOE (7-3-0, 3-1-0 NAC)
at Hart Park in Wauwatosa, Wis. The Warriors and Raiders will get
underway at 1 p.m.
