BELOIT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season Monday,
falling on the road to Beloit 4-3 after the match was halted with
two match still in progress due to lightning at the Strong Complex
Tennis Courts.
The Warriors #2 doubles team of senior Kathryn Hendee (Rockton,
Ill./Hononegah) and freshman Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St.
Joseph) picked up an 8-4 win over Beloit's Libby Storick and Emma
Beck. The host Buccaneers were victorious 8-2 and 8-3 at #1 and #3
doubles, respectively.
In singles action, senior Kaitlyn Strehlow (Hales Corners,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Hendee earned wins at #1 and #2 for
WLC, while BC took matches at #4 and #5. With the #3 and #6 singles
matches in progress, play was stopped due to lightning and the Bucs
came away with the narrow 4-3 non-conference win.
Libby Storrick led Bonnin 4-6, 6-0, 8-2 at #3 singles and Kalyn
Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) led Paola Schnabel 7-5, 3-3
at #6 singles when play was stopped and both matches were ruled
unfinished.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-1, 1-0 NAC) returns to action Wednesday
when it hosts Lakeland (1-1, 1-1 NAC) in a 6 p.m. NAC dual at Hart
Park in Wauwatosa, Wis.
