Warriors Win Twice To Remain Perfect In NAC

NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team won both of its Northern Athletics Conference matches Saturday on Parents'/Alumni Day, defeating Dominican 6-3 and Concordia Chicago 9-0 at the Princeton Club.

In its first match of the day versus the Stars (0-2, 0-2 NAC), WLC took four of the six flights in singles action. At #1 singles, Kaitlyn Strehlow (Hales Corners, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) defeated Rachel Taddy 6-1, 6-0 and Kathryn Hendee (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) swept DU's Emily Hereford, 6-0, 6-0 at #2. Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) was victorious at #4 as she defeated Marbeya Berner, 0-6, 6-2, 10-3. WLC also took the #5 singles contest as Petra Krause (Oshkosh, Wis./West) toppled Monica Budzak, 6-2, 6-1.

The Warriors won two of three matches in doubles play as the #1 tandem of Strehlow and Stephanie Gengler (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) defeated Taddy and Jill Metcalf, 8-0. At #2, Hendee and Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph) claimed an 8-3 win over Berner and Rosemary Orchanian.

In the Warriors second match against Concordia Chicago (0-4, 0-3 NAC), Strehlow took #1 singles 6-1, 6-1 over Deanna Richardson and Hendee won #2 singles over Abby Matayke, 6-0, 6-0. Pearson defeated Kamile Udrenaite 6-2, 6-0 and Bonnin overcame Kristy Heimsoth 6-2, 6-1 at #3 and #4 singles, respectively. Terri Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and Krause finished the singles sweep by defeating Hannah Kaul and Becca Lamanna 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

In doubles competition, Strehlow and Gengler won at #1 over Richardson and Matayka, 8-4. At #2 doubles, Hendee and Bonnin defeated Udrenaite and Heimsoth, 8-0, while at #3 doubles, Glasel and Pearson also defeated Molly Maas and Kaul, 8-0.

Wisconsin Lutheran (5-2, 4-0 NAC) returns to the courts Tuesday, September 11 against NAC rival MSOE (1-2, 1-2 NAC). The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa, Wis.
