RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team cruised past Concordia Chicago Wednesday night, 79-37, in a Northern Athletics Conference game at Geiseman Gymnasium. The win clinched a share of the Warriors' fifth straight NAC Division championship.

The Warriors came out strong as they built a 15-4 lead just eight minutes into action. Senior Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) made a pair of three-pointers in the game-opening run, while junior Rachel Hoft (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added a three-pointer of her own to aid WLC in the early 11-point lead.

The Cougars couldn't get much closer in the first 20 minutes and Wisconsin Lutheran built its lead to a first-half best 15 points on three different occasions, taking 34-19 into halftime.

The Warriors shot 40.6 percent (13-for-32) in the opening half, including 50 percent (5-for-10) from beyond the arc. Allister led the way in the first 20 minutes by scoring nine points, all from three-point range. WLC held CUC to just 25 percent (6-for-24) shooting in the first half.

The second half was all Wisconsin Lutheran as it led by 25-plus points for a majority of the half, cruising to the 79-37 victory.

WLC finished the game shooting 42.4 percent (28-for-66) from the floor. The Warriors also knocked down 78.9 percent (15-for-19) of their free throws, including 12-of-13 in the second half. WLC also continued its impressive defensive display, baffling the Cougars all night, and limiting them to 23.2 percent (13-for-56) shooting.

Senior Shavon Dillon (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) finished with a game-high 18 points to lead Wisconsin Lutheran, making 10 of her 11 free throw attempts. Allister added 11 points, while senior Carrie Thomas (Richfield, Wis./Hartford Union) chipped in with 10. Sophomore Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) blocked six shots, while she and Dillon also pulled down nine rebounds apiece. WLC held a big advantage on the boards, 56-31.

Concordia Chicago (7-14, 7-6 NAC) was led by Jessica Genke's 12 points and five rebounds.

Wisconsin Lutheran (18-2, 13-0 NAC) aims to win its fifth straight NAC Division championship outright Saturday when it travels across town to face Alverno (12-8, 9-4 NAC).
