Box Score WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit by winning the final three sets and defeated Maranatha Tuesday in non-conference action at Maranatha Gymnasium.
The Crusaders looked as if they were going to coast to victory over the Warriors after winning the first two sets 25-15 and 25-21. WLC had other ideas, however, winning the final three sets 25-20, 25-20, and 15-10 to take the match.
Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Alayna Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) paced the Warriors offensively with 19 and 15 kills, respectively. WLC hit .170 for the match, but began the comeback with a third-set hitting percentage of .237.
Filling in as the setter, Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) passed out 45 assists and had 15 digs for a double-double. Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) recorded a match-best 26 digs. WLC had a tremendous block throughout the night, totaling three solo and 16 assisted. Carly Warner (Clear Lake, Wis./Clear Lake) provided two solo and four assisted blocks for WLC.
For the Crusaders (14-8), Laci Peterson had 19 kills and Emily Thompson notched a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-19, 2-3 NACC) travels to play a NACC match Friday at 7 p.m. against Concordia Chicago (3-12, 1-3 NACC) in River Forest, Ill.
