MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team started the scoring early and never looked
back as it coasted to a 75-52 Northern Athletics Conference
Tournament championship victory over second-seeded Concordia
Wisconsin Saturday night at the Recreation Complex. With the win,
the Warriors advance to their third straight NCAA Tournament and
fifth in school history.
The Warriors scored the first six points of the game and jumped
out to a 25-6 lead at the 8:19 mark of the first half. The visiting
Falcons came as close as 14 points in the first half, but the
Warriors increased their lead to 42-19 at halftime. WLC shot 58.6
percent (17-for-29) from the floor in the period as senior Shavon
Dillon (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) scored 15 of her game-high 17
points in the half. CUW struggled in the first half as it was held
to just 19.2 percent (5-for-26) shooting from the field. The
Warriors dominated the paint as they outscored the Falcons 30-4 in
that category for the first half.
The Falcons came out and netted the first four points in the
second half and got as close as 16 points at 54-38 with 8:36
remaining in the game. The Warriors then went on a 12-2 run to lead
by a game-high 26 points. Wisconsin Lutheran shot 42.3 percent
(11-for-26) from the floor in the period and 2-for-3 from beyond
the arc to finish 4-for-6 from downtown for the game. CUW
drastically improved its shooting from the first half as it shot
12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from the floor.
Sophomore Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran)
joined Dillon in double-figures with 16 points for the game. Junior
Rachel Hoft (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) was perfect 4-for-4 from
the floor to finish with 11 points. Junior Kelli Johnson
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led all players with 10
rebounds.
Katie Luethe tied Dillon for a game-high with 17 points as she
was one of three Falcons to reach double-figures. Brittany Zietlow
added 11 points and Megan Coenen contributed 10 off the bench. CUW
finished the season 19-9 overall.
Wisconsin Lutheran (25-2), which has won 17 straight games and
28 straight against conference opponents, will find out its NCAA
Tournament First Round opponent Monday at 1:30 p.m. when the NCAA
unveils the 64-team tournament bracket on NCAA.com. Fans are

selection show.
