Box Score 2 ELMHURST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team opened its 2013 season Friday by splitting two matches at the Elmhurst Invitational at R.A. Faganel Hall. The Warriors defeated Olivet 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-22), before falling to Coe 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-20).
In their opening match against the Comets, senior Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) hit an impressive .617 as she finished with 12 kills on 18 total attempts. Sophomore Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) dished out 33 of the team's 39 assists. Senior Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) recorded 12 digs. The aforementioned three players' totals were all match highs.
Olivet (0-2) did not have any player reach double-digit kills for the match.
The Warriors struggled on the attack in their second match against Coe, hitting just .157 for the match. Erin Greenfield again paced the team with a match-best 15 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Alexis Hafemeister also added a double-double with 15 assists and 10 digs. Ridgeman led all players in the match with 16 digs.
Coe's (1-1) Mackenzie Harbaugh amassed an impressive triple-double with 29 assists, 12 kills, and 12 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1) returns to action at the Elmhurst Invitational Saturday afternoon when it plays Illinois Wesleyan (1 p.m.) and Lake Forest (3 p.m.) at R.A. Faganel Hall. Live video of both matches will be available at wlcsports.com.
