Box Score 2 ELMHURST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team dropped its final two matches at the Elmhurst Invitational Saturday afternoon, falling to Illinois Wesleyan, 3-1, and Lake Forest, 3-2, at R.A. Faganel Hall.
In their opening match of the day versus the Titans, the Warriors won the match's first set 25-21, but proceeded to drop the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-20.
Senior Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) registered a team-best 14 kills, while senior teammate Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) contributed 12. Forty of the team's 42 assists came off the hands of sophomore Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West). Senior Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) recorded 20 digs and senior Heather Tompkins (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) added 11.
Maddie Greybar (15 kills, 10 digs) and Erin Wachtel (40 assists, 10 digs) each finished with double-doubles to lead IWU (3-1).
WLC wrapped up weekend play with a tough five-set loss to Lake Forest by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, and 15-9.
Erin Greenfield collected a match-high 15 kills and added 12 digs for a double-double, while Hafemeister dished out 31 assists. Ridgeman and Tompkins recorded 16 and 12 digs, respectively.
For Lake Forest (2-2), Erin Sully also amassed a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs.
The Warriors (1-3) return to action Wednesday with two matches at the MSOE Triangular. WLC plays the host Raiders (2-2) at 3 p.m., followed by a match against Lawrence (1-3) at 5 p.m.
