Box Score RIPON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference match against Ripon Wednesday at Wyman Gymnasium.
The Warriors held a lead late in each set, but the Red Hawks came from behind in each to earn the sweep over WLC. Trailing 18-16 in the opening set, Ripon closed the set on a 9-1 run to win the opener 25-19. WLC held a 21-18 advantage in the second set, but RC rallied for seven of the final nine set points. In the third set, the Warriors couldn't hold onto their 22-18 lead and suffered a tough 26-24 setback to fall in three sets.
Jeni Polzin (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) and Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) each had nine kills to lead the Warriors. Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) added nine digs, while Polzin logged seven. Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) tallied 28 of the team's 31 assists in the match.
Ripon (6-4) had three players reach nine kills. Brianne Milroy had 18 digs, while Abbi Williamson assisted 34 times.
WLC (3-5) next heads to the UW-Whitewater Invitational in Whitewater Friday and Saturday. The first match takes place Friday at 3 p.m. against host UW-Whitewater (7-3).
