Box Score 2 WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team dropped two matches against invitational host UW-Whitewater and Bethel (Minn.) Friday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
In their opening match of the afternoon, the Warriors fell in three sets to the 19th-ranked Warhawks by scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-17.
Senior Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) had 10 kills for WLC, which hit just .021 for the match. Sophomore Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) totaled 18 assists, and senior Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) had 10 digs. For Whitewater (8-3), Lauren Pfeifer had 11 kills, Kim Frei dished out 27 assists, and Jaclyn Krizka recorded 10 digs.
The Warriors took the first set against the Royals, 25-16, in their final match of the day Friday. However Bethel, which is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, came back to win three straight sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) to take the match 3-1.
Erin Greenfield (18 kills, 11 digs) and Alexis Hafemeister (39 assists, 10 digs) each recorded double-doubles for the Warriors. Senior Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also reached double-figure kill totals with 10. Ridgeman again led the way defensively with 18 digs. WLC hit a much-improved .275 for the match, but was plagued with 13 service errors.
The Royals (6-4) were paced by Carlee Hoppe's 14 kills and 14 digs as she was one of three players to reach double-digit kills on the day.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-7) plays two more matches against Millikin (5-5) and Northwestern (Minn.) (3-8) Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. The matches against the Big Blue and Eagles and scheduled for 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
