RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team split a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matches Saturday in suburban Chicago.
In their first of two matches, the Warriors fell 6-3 against Dominican. The No. 1 doubles team of Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph's) and Kayln Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) captured their first win of the day against the Stars' top team by a score of 8-4. Bonnin paved the way in singles play with a victory in the No. 1 spot via a retire after a 6-3 opening-set win. In the No. 5 singles match, Bethany Soderlund (De Pere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was a 6-0, 6-3 winner.
WLC brought home a 7-2 victory over Concordia Chicago in its second and final dual of the afternoon. All three doubles teams opened the match with a victory. Bonnin and Geddes were victorious at No. 1, 8-4. Soderlund and Amanda Pearson (Prairie De Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) fought hard for an 8-5 victory at No. 2. Susanna Harbach (Nodine, Minn./Luther) and Emily Leistekow (La Crosse, Wis./Luther Preparatory) earned a win at No. 3 doubles via forfeit.
Bonnin continued her winning ways in singles play with another victory, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4, Pearson claimed a 6-1, 6-0 triumph. Soderlund also took home a 6-1, 6-0 win in her No. 5 singles match. Leistekow rounded out the day with a forfeit win in the No. 6 spot.
The Warriors (3-6, 3-3 NACC) will move on to face conference rival Concordia Wisconsin (7-1, 7-1 NACC) Monday, September 16 at 4:30 p.m. in Mequon.
