WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team defeated Alverno 6-3 Wednesday night at Hart Park to even its conference record to 4-4 on the season.
The Warriors opened doubles action by taking two of three matches from the Inferno (1-7, 1-5 NACC). Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph's) and Kalyn Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) defeated Alverno's No. 1 team, 8-1. At No. 3 doubles, Susanna Harbach (Nodine, Minn./Luther) and Rachel Klement (Midland, Mich./Homeschooled) also came out on top, 8-1.
WLC notched four wins in singles play, led by Bonnin at No. 1 as she improved to a perfect 8-0 in conference singles play with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Harbach (6-0, 6-3) and Geddes (6-4, 6-3) also picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Amanda Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) had the Warriors' fourth victory at No. 5, coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
WLC (4-7, 4-4 NACC) next hosts non-conference opponent UW-Stevens Point (5-2) Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hart Park.
