Box Score LISLE, Ill. - Benedictine ran off 11 straight points to comeback and win the first set on its way to a 3-0 victory over the Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match Wednesday at the Rice Center.
The Warriors took a 6-2 lead early in the first set before the Eagles won 11 straight points to take a 13-6 lead. Benedictine had a .250 hitting percentage in the set and won the opener 25-13.
The Eagles won the second set 25-19 before a hard-fought third set. The Warriors had two set points leading 24-22 but the Eagles rallied for the tie before pulling out the set 27-25 to win the match.
Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Linda Kenyon (Stevensville, Mich./Michigan Lutheran) led WLC with seven kills apiece, while Greenfield also recorded seven digs. Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) had a team-high 23 assists. Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) posted team-highs with 18 digs and three service aces.
Candace Cuppini paced the Eagles (5-4, 2-0 NACC) with 18 kills. Abby Sattler recorded a double-double with 29 assists and 12 digs. Haley Fitzgerald led BenU with 18 digs.
WLC (3-10, 1-1 NACC) travels to Chicago Friday for the Gargoyle Classic, beginning with matches against host No. 14 Chicago (7-3) at 2 p.m. and No. 6 Elmhurst (9-1) at 6 p.m.
