Box Score 2 CHICAGO - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team fell 3-0 to both Chicago and Elmhurst on day one of the Gargoyle Classic at the University of Chicago's Ratner Center.
Chicago, ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division III by the AVCA, defeated the Warriors 25-19, 25-20, and 25-18 in the first match of the day. Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Linda Kenyon (Stevensville, Mich./Michigan Lutheran) had eight kills apiece for WLC. Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) recorded a team-high 15 assists and Alayna Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 10 along with five digs. Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) led the Warriors with 11 digs and three service aces.
Katie Huntington registered eight kills for Chicago (8-4). Nikki DelZenero led the Maroons with 27 assists and Kim Eirene had 14 digs.
Elmhurst, the sixth-ranked team in NCAA Division III, topped the Warriors 25-11, 25-22, and 25-16. Erin Greenfield recorded 11 kills, Alexis Hafemeister led the team with 15 assists and Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) had a team-high 10 digs.
Marci Novak led the Bluejays (11-1) with 12 kills and seven blocks. Lauren Lorenz recorded 23 assists and Hannah Lessen had a team-high seven digs.
The Warriors (3-12) play two more matches Saturday at the Gargoyle Classic, facing No. 17 Christopher Newport (8-5) at 10:30 a.m. and Millikin (9-6) at 12:30 p.m.
