Conference Opener Results In Another Draw For Warriors

Box Score

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team opened conference play Saturday against Benedictine at Warrior Field. Both teams battled hard in a very physical game that featured a combined 32 fouls and four yellow cards, but were unable to be separated through regulation and two overtime periods, resulting in a scoreless draw.

Senior Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) provided some key saves late in regulation and throughout both overtime frames to keep his clean sheet and record 10 total saves. It was his third shutout of the season.

Junior Jake Semmann (Grafton, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and sophomore Nate Wasser (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led the Warriors in shots for the day with four each. The teams were at a deadlock the entire game as Benedictine (1-4-1, 0-0-1 NACC) recorded 20 shots, while Wisconsin Lutheran ended with 17, yet neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Anes Kadiric totaled a game-high seven of BenU's 20 shots for the game. Zorohn Reed made eight saves to preserve the shutout in net.

Wisconsin Lutheran (2-2-3, 0-0-1 NACC) continues its four-game homestand Sunday at Warrior field against non-conference opponent Eureka (0-5-0) at 3:30 p.m.
