Box Score 2 WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team dropped both of its matches to open the IIAC/NACC Challenge Friday at Just a Game Fieldhouse. The Warriors fell to Simpson, 3-0, before concluding the night with a 3-1 loss against Luther.
Simpson (10-2) defeated the Warriors in three sets 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 to begin play Friday. Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) had seven kills to lead WLC, which was plagued by 21 hitting errors and a .060 attacking percentage. Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) recorded 23 assists. Defensively, Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) registered 10 digs and Linda Kenyon (Stevensville, Mich./Michigan Lutheran) had four blocks.
The Storm were led by Tabitha Blaser's 10 kills. Katie Kieffer dished out 30 assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran won the opening set, 25-23, in its next match against Luther. The Norse (10-7) came back to win two tightly-contested sets 25-22 and 25-23, before winning the fourth set, 25-18. Erin Greenfield tied for a match-high with 11 kills. Alexis Hafemeister was credited for all of the team's 32 assists, while adding 10 digs for a double-double. Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) notched a match-best 22 digs.
Natalee Johnson was one of three Norse to reach double-digit kills with 11. Lindsey Ryan added 40 assists.
WLC (4-16) plays two more matches tomorrow at Noon and 4 p.m. against Buena Vista (11-4) and Central (5-10) at Just a Game Fieldhouse.
