MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team out-scored Dominican 42-22 in the second half on the way to its sixth straight victory, a 72-45 triumph Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Complex.

Melanie Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) used a strong low-post game to lead the Warriors' (7-3, 5-1 NACC) second-half charge with 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field. She recorded game-highs with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Laete's layup with 11:06 remaining in the game capped a 20-3 burst that gave WLC a 52-30 advantage. WLC pushed the lead to as big as 28 at 69-41 with 1:46 to play. The Warriors limited Domincan (0-12, 0-7 NACC) to just 25 percent shooting (7-for-28) in the second half and forced 12 turnovers while committing just two in the half.

The Warriors fell behind 8-3 early on a Elieza Claudio jump shot with 16:25 to go in the first half. WLC took control of the game with a 19-3 run to make it 22-11 on a jumper by Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) with 10:41 left in the first half. The Stars trimmed the lead to 30-23 at half. Each team turned the ball over 10 times in a sloppy opening half.
