Cougars Edge Warriors In Five-Set Thriller

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team went to a decisive fifth set for the second consecutive match, but visiting Concordia Chicago won the final set 15-11 to take the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match from the Warriors Friday at the Recreation Complex.

WHERE THEY STAND

  • The Warriors dropped to 0-16 overall and 0-6 in the NACC, while the Cougars improved to 5-16 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia Chicago traded wins throughout the first four sets. CUC took sets one and three 25-22 and 25-21, while WLC was victorious in sets two and four 25-16 and 25-22. The Cougars won the fifth and final set 15-11 to take the match 3-2.
  • The Warriors had their highest hitting percentage in set four where they hit .143, but struggled in set three, hitting just -.125. The Cougars hit .214 in the fourth set, but just -.156 in the second set.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Wisconsin Lutheran hit .042 for the match, while Concordia Chicago finished with a .061 hitting percentage.
  • Haley Feucht (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) paced Wisconsin Lutheran with a double-double of 15 kills and 11 digs. The 15 kills tied her season high.
  • Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) led WLC with 25 digs, while Andrea Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) chipped in with 11. Alexis Hafemiester (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) dished out 32 assists.
  • Wierzbicki and Anamarie Stern (Waco, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) had five service aces each.
  • Kaylyn Anderson, Olivia Friedrichs, and Jackie Bartnicki all recorded double-doubles for the Cougars. Anderson had 25 kills, Bartnicki had 40 assists, and Allison Back collected 27 digs.
