Volleyball Sweeps Alverno For Season's First Win

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team collected its first win of the season Saturday by virtue of a 3-0 sweep over visiting Alverno at the Recreation Complex. The win put an end to the Warriors' 18-match losing streak.

WHERE THEY STAND

• The Warriors moved to 1-18 overall and 1-8 in the NACC, while Alverno dropped to 9-16 overall and remained winless in the NACC at 0-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Warriors jumped out to an early 9-3 lead and never looked back in the opening set, winning 25-12. WLC hit .261 as opposed to the Inferno's -.194. 
• Wisconsin Lutheran broke open a tight set early on by jumping ahead 19-12 en route to a 25-15 win. The Warriors continued to hit well, posting a .324 percentage in the middle set.
• WLC overcame an impressive 23-19 deficit in the third set and rattled off five straight points to earn the sweep with a 26-24 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Warriors hit a season-best .217 for the match as opposed to Alverno's -.018. 
• Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) led the Warriors with 32 assists and added 2 block assists. 
• Haley Feucht (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) recorded a team- and season-high 16 kills on 45 attacks.
• Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) recorded 26 digs and Andrea Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) chipped in with 10.
