Box Score MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team pushed No. 9 DePauw to the limit, but Savannah Trees hit a pair of free throws for the Tigers with 4.5 seconds remaining, and Kristen Schulz's (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) last second layup attempt hit the rim as time expired as DePauw held on for a 69-68 victory in Friday night's season opener at the Recreation Complex. The game was played as part of the season-opening Paul F. Knueppel Classic.

- The non-conference loss drops the Warriors to 0-1, while the Tigers improved to 1-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers used a 9-0 run late in the first half to take the biggest lead of the game at 33-23 with 1:03 left until halftime. DePauw took a 33-25 lead into the break.
- WLC chipped away at the deficit and went on a 13-5 run midway through the second half to grab a 53-51 advantage with 7:09 to play.
- After numerous lead changes down the stretch, Schulz's layup with 1:08 remaining gave the Warriors a 68-67 lead.
- Trees knocked down a pair of free throws to put the Tigers back in front 69-68 with 4.5 seconds remaining. WLC pushed the ball into the front court and called timeout before running the final inbounds play with 1.5 seconds left. Schulz caught a lob pass on the right side of the basket, but her game-winning layup attempt caromed off the rim as the final buzzer sounded.

- The contest featured nine ties and 11 lead changes.
- Schulz notched a double-double with 26 points, which matched a game high, and a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with two blocks. Taylor Bahr (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) scored 14 and dished out a game-high 10 assists. Maggie Gartner (Springdale, Ark./Har-Ber) supplied 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Emma Ondik was 7-of-10 from the field and 6-of-9 from long distance to match a game high with 26 points. Trees scored 12 points and Lauren Abendroth contributed 11 points and five rebounds for the Tigers.
- The Warriors outshot the Tigers 51 percent to 40 percent and dominated points in the paint 42-10.
- DePauw turned 10 WLC miscues into a 15-2 advantage in points off turnovers and also controlled second-chance points 16-10.
