Warriors' Rally Not Enough To Overcome Raiders In NACC Opener

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team battled back from a two sets to none deficit and nearly forced a fifth set before dropping its NACC opener 3-1 to MSOE Tuesday night at the Kern Center.

WHERE THEY STAND

• The Warriors fell to 0-5 and 0-1 in NACC play while the Raiders improved to 5-4 with a 1-0 mark in the NACC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• WLC never led in the opening two sets, suffering 25-16 and 25-11 defeats. MSOE hit .269 and .300, respectively, in the first two sets.
• The Warriors held the lead for most of the third set, winning it 25-22 on a kill by Nicole Klipstein (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) to force a fourth set.
• The fourth set featured 12 ties and the Warriors looked primed to force a fifth set after taking a 21-19 lead on a kill by Klipstein. The Raiders fought back to win the final six points to clinch the set and match, 25-21.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) posted a double-double for the Warriors with 30 assists and 13 digs.
• Haley Feucht (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) notched a match-high 15 kills and Klipstein added 12.
• Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) registered a match-best 21 digs.
• MSOE hit .200 for the match and recorded 16 blocks. Kasey Mylin hit .429 while contributing nine kills and a match-high six blocks.
• Abby Born piled up a match-high 33 assists and added 14 digs.

• Wisconsin Lutheran travels to Eau Claire Friday for the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament, where it will face St. Norbert (4-8) at 3 p.m. and Concordia-Moorhead (4-4) at 7:30 p.m.
