Women's Tennis Notches Season's First Win Over Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team won its first match of the young season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Beloit 7-2 in non-conference action at Strong Complex Tennis Courts.

The Warriors (1-1) took two of three doubles flights to open play against the Bucs (0-3). Kayln Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) and Bethany Soderlund (De Pere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) teamed at No. 2 for an 8-6 win, while Amanda Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Tabitha Schultz (Spokane, Wash./Luther Preparatory) won via that same result at No. 3.

The momentum carried over to singles play where WLC won five of six flights. Paige Potaracke (La Crosse, Wis./Onalaska Luther) claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2, while Geddes was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 3. After a 6-1 first set win, Soderlund's won via retirement at No. 4. Pearson collected a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 5 and Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis./Luther Preparatory) wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 6.

Wisconsin Lutheran plays its first two home matches of the season Saturday when it hosts Dominican (2-2, 2-1 NACC) and Concordia Chicago (1-0, 1-0 NACC) at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
