WLC Falls To No. 20 UW-Whitewater, St. Norbert

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team was dealt back-to-back 3-0 sweeps by No. 20 UW-Whitewater and St. Norbert Saturday in its final two matches of the Pointers Invitational at Berg Gym. 

WHERE THEY STAND

• The Warriors dropped to 0-4, UW-Whitewater jumped to 6-1, and St. Norbert moved to 3-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED: MATCH 1

• WLC held an early 4-3 lead in the first set, but the Warhawks won 18 of the final 20 points to claim a 25-8 victory.
• The Warriors led for most of the second set, leading by as many as six points after Nicole Klipstein's (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) kill made it 14-8. WLC held a 20-16 lead before Whitewater rallied to win nine of the last 10 points and take the set 25-21. 
• WLC won the first point of the final set but the Warhawks never trailed the rest of the way, winning 25-15 to clinch the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: MATCH 1

• Jeni Polzin (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) tallied five kills and 11 digs for the Warriors. Megan Wierzbicki (Hartford, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) contributed 10 digs and Alexis Hafemeister (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) dished out 16 assists.
• Whitewater hit .258 for the match and was led by Stephanie Cherwin's eight kills. Staci Hasler recorded 30 assists and Kelsey Nobilio notched 19 digs. Sydney Toon posted five of the Warhawks' 18 blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED: MATCH 2

• The Green Knights swept the match 25-12, 25-15, and 25-18.
• St. Norbert never trailed in the match and posted an impressive .300 hitting percentage. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: MATCH 2

• Haley Feucht (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) registered eight kills and eight digs for WLC. Hafemeister piled up a match-high 20 assists and Wierzbicki added 12 digs.
• Heidi Spies recorded a match-high 11 kills, Kaitlin Delahaut notched 18 assists, and Aubree Antosch compiled 16 digs for St. Norbert.
