Warriors Victorious Over Vikings In Spring Season Opener

MANKATO, Minn. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team collected its first victory of the spring season as it defeated Bethany Lutheran 6-3 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at BLC Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Warriors held a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Paige Potaracke (La Crosse, Wis./Luther) and Kayln Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) were 8-5 winners at No. 1. WLC also won the No. 3 doubles match where Katarina Volkmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Taylor Bergmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) picked up an 8-3 win. 
• After dropping No. 1 singles, Wisconsin Lutheran came back with a win at No. 2 where Geddes collected a 7-5, 6-0 win. 
• At No. 3, Tabitha Schulz (Spokane, Wash./Luther Preparatory) won her match in a three-set thriller, 6-2, 2-6, 10-5. 
• The Warriors won their last two singles matches when Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis./Luther Preparatory) posted another three-set win (3-6, 6-1, 10-4) at No. 5 and Taylor Bergmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) earned a win (6-4, 6-3) at No. 6.

• Wisconsin Lutheran is back in action next Sunday when it travels to Dubuque, Iowa to take on Loras (6-12) at 2:00 p.m. in more non-conference action.
