Women's Tennis Drops NACC Contest To Eagles

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team returned to the courts for the first time in over a week on Sunday and was handed an 8-1 defeat against Edgewood at Moorland Tennis and Pickleball Club. The match was moved indoors from Hart Park due to the threatening weather.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Eagles won all three doubles matches from the Warriors to open play by scores of 8-0, 8-0, and 8-2.
  • Edgewood continued its dominance in singles play, taking five of six flights in straight sets from the Warriors.
  • WLC's Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis./Luther Preparatory) collected the team's only win of the afternoon at No. 3 singles, a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over EC's Sydney Verbauwhede.
  • Boyd improved her record to 5-3 at No. 3 singles.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors are back home again on Tuesday when they host Marian (4-5, 3-2 NACC) at 6:30 p.m. at Hart Park. The match is a reschedule from its original date of September 7. The Sabres have been off since September 17 when they split conference matches with Lakeland (W, 7-2) and Concordia Wisconsin (L, 7-2).
