Women's Tennis Falls Twice On Non-Conference Road Trip

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team suffered a pair of non-conference sweeps against St. Ambrose and host UW-Stout on Saturday afternoon at the UW-Stout Recreation/Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• St. Ambrose swept all three doubles matches and all six singles flights in straight sets from the Warriors to begin the day. 
• WLC's closest contested matches came at No. 3 doubles where Katarina Volkmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) fell 8-3. 
• In singles play, Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis./Luther Preparatory) dropped a 7-5, 7-5 match at No. 3. 
• The host Blue Devils also handed the Warriors a 9-0 sweep in their second match of the day. 
• WLC's No. 1 doubles team of Paige Potaracke (La Crosse, Wis./Luther) and Boyd battled but fell 8-5. UW-Stout went on to claim straight set wins in singles play.

• The Warriors close out their season-opening four-match road swing on Monday when they travel to Beloit (0-0) for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match. The Warriors defeated the Bucs twice last season, 5-4 and 9-0.
