WLC Swept For First Time In Conference Play

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team suffered a tough NACC sweep Saturday afternoon as it dropped a 3-0 decision to Concordia Chicago inside Geiseman Gymnasium. It was the Warriors' first conference road loss of the season.

  • Final Score: Concordia Chicago 3, Wisconsin Lutheran 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-18)
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (15-7, 6-2 NACC), Concordia Chicago (10-12, 5-4 NACC)
  • Location: Geiseman Gymnasium, River Forest, Ill.

  • The Cougars used a quick 4-0 spurt to gain an 11-8 advantage early on, but the Warriors answered with four straight of their own to hold a 12-11 lead. CUC scored seven of the final nine points to take the opening set, 25-18.
  • After a back-and-forth contest, the Cougars ended the second set with on 6-0 run as they took a 2-0 advantage with a 25-17 victory. CUC posted a match-high .393 attack percentage in the set.
  • Concordia Chicago scored the first three points and held a 9-4 lead early on in the third set. CUC used a 6-0 run to extend its lead to 18-10 midway through the third set en route to a 25-18 win and sweep over WLC. The Warriors committed eight errors in the final set.

  • Abby Raasch (Stillwater, Minn.) continued her hot weekend of hitting by posting a .467 percentage with eight kills to pace the Warriors attack.
  • Cassidy Johnson (Germantown, Wis.) collected 24 of her team's 26 assists.
  • Dayton Pye (Zion, Ill.) was the lone Warrior in double-digit digs as she recorded 14.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran hit just .078 for the match, its lowest in its last 12 matches.
  • The Warriors were swept for the first time in their last 12 matches and for just the fifth time all season.

  • Jaylynn Jacobson led Concordia Chicago with 14 kills while hitting .423 and Nicoletta Crowley recorded 34 assists. Elise Sombke posted a match-high with 21 digs.
  • The Cougars, who have won two straight over the Warriors, hit .232 for the match and had 10 service aces.

  • The Warriors return to action Tuesday when they host Lakeland (17-7, 6-2 NACC) for Professor Appreciation Night inside the Recreation Complex. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. The Muskies have won five straight and defeated WLC, 3-2, back on September 1 at their season-opening tournament.
