Warriors Sink Buccaneers In Non-Conference Action

BELOIT, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team earned an 8-1 non-conference victory over the Beloit Buccaneers Sunday afternoon. The Warriors swept doubles play and collected five wins in singles play en route to the triumph. WLC snapped a four-match losing streak by winning their seventh straight over the Bucs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Warriors swept action in doubles play as Paige Potaracke (La Crosse, Wis.) and Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis.) collected an 8-5 triumph at the No. 1 doubles position for their 10th win of the season, while Tabitha Schultz (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) and Katarina Volkmann (Slinger, Wis.) won 8-3 at the No. 2 doubles spot. Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Taylor Bergmann (Slinger, Wis.) rounded out the doubles portion with an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 doubles position.
• Potoracke collected a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 1 singles position while Schultz earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the second singles position.
• Boyd earned a 6-1,6-3 triumph at the No. 3 singles position while Gerbing and Reebee Ratkowski (Waterford, Wis.) collected 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-4 victories, respectively.
• Boyd, Potaracke, and Ratkowski each won their team-leading ninth singles match of the season.

UP NEXT

• The Warriors return to action Wednesday when they face Alverno in a non-conference match at the Princeton Club. The Inferno (4-7, 3-6 NACC) have yet to compete in a contest this spring.
