Warriors Douse Inferno In Tune-Up For NACC Tournament

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team earned a 6-3 non-conference victory over the Alverno Inferno Wednesday night at the Princeton Club. The Warriors improved their record to 10-9 overall on the season as the match served as WLC's final tune-up before competing in the NACC Tournament Sunday at Marian.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Warriors picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions to open up the match. Paige Potaracke (La Crosse, Wis.) and Emily Boyd (Lebanon, Wis.) won 8-5 at the No. 1 doubles spot for their team-best 11th win of the season, while Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Taylor Bergmann (Slinger, Wis.) won 8-1 at the No. 3 position.
• Potaracke earned a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the No. 1 singles position, while Tabitha Schultz (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) earned a three-set 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 victory at the No. 2 singles slot.
• Gerbing and Reebee Ratkowski (Waterford, Wis.) rounded out the victory for WLC with straight set wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.
• Potaracke and Ratkowski each recorded their team-leading 10th singles wins of the season.
• It was the Warriors second win of the season over the Inferno after having dropped three prior matchups. 

UP NEXT

• The fifth-seeded Warriors travel to Marian Sunday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. for the first round of the NACC Tournament. The Sabres (9-10, 6-3 NACC) earned the No. 4 seed in the NACC Tournament. Wisconsin Lutheran was a 5-4 winner over Marian in its only conference matchup back on September 13 of the fall season.
