Women's Tennis Downs Alverno In Rain-Shortened Match

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team defeated the Alverno Inferno 5-1 Thursday at McKinley Park Tennis Courts. The two teams completed six matches before inclement weather forced the remaining matches to be postponed and the match ruled final.

• The Warriors earned two wins in doubles play with Reebee Ratkowski (Waterford, Wis.) and Sandhya Akella (Carmel, Ind.) earning an 8-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position, then the No. 3 doubles team winning by default.
• WLC earned a victory at the No. 6 singles position due to default, then Natalee Douangvilay (Milwaukee, Wis.) won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position.
• Akella earned her second victory of the match, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles slot.
• The remaining singles matches were cancelled due to rain in the area.

• The win marks the fourth straight meeting for WLC over Alverno.
• Ratkowski and Akella earned their third win of the season at the No. 2 doubles position.

• The Warriors host Concordia Wisconsin (7-0, 6-0 NACC) and Marian (5-3, 3-1 NACC) Saturday in their final home conference double-dual of the fall season at the Princeton Club in New Berlin.
