Warriors Open Home Slate With Pair Of Setbacks

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team played its first two home matches of the fall season Saturday, falling 7-2 against MSOE and 9-0 to Edgewood at the Princeton Club in New Berlin.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-4, 0-3 NACC), MSOE (2-5, 1-2 NACC), Edgewood (6-2, 3-0 NACC)

• The Raiders took all three doubles matchups to start the day, winning 8-1, 8-6, and 8-3 respectively. Seniors Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Reebee Ratkowski (Waterford, Wis.) kept things close at No. 2, but ultimately fell 8-6.
• The Warriors picked up two victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles against the Raiders. Senior Amanda Las (Bangor, Wis.) won her match at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-2), while sophomore Madeleine Steber (Green Bay, Wis.) won in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 10-8).
• In the second match of the afternoon, Edgewood swept both the doubles and singles matches for a 9-0 win. The Eagles, the NACC preseason favorite, won the doubles matches by scores of 8-0, 8-3, and 8-0. Steber took her opponent to three sets at No. 6 singles for the Warriors, but fell in the final frame 11-9.

• Las picked up her team-leading third singles victory of the season for the Warriors, and her first at No. 5 singles.
• Steber's victory over MSOE was her second of the season, and her first at No. 6 singles.

• The Warriors return to the courts Tuesday when they travel to Kohler for a NACC dual against Lakeland (2-3, 2-1 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Sports Core.
