Warriors Knock Off NACC's Lone Unbeaten

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Senior Kelly Tramburg (Fall River, Wis.) tied a game high with 20 points to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team to a 58-49 win over previously undefeated Edgewood Saturday afternoon inside the Recreation Complex. The win was the Warriors' fourth straight and their 17th straight over the Eagles in the series.

  • The Warriors jumped out to an early 8-2 lead with 6:08 to play in the opening quarter, as junior Amanda Brug (Sturtevant, Wis.) scored a trio of baskets off three reverse layups. The two teams traded baskets the next few minutes until senior Tierney Woodward (Poynette, Wis.) hit a three-pointer to give the Warriors a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran saw its lead increase to 12 points with 7:24 to go in the second quarter. The Warriors maintained a nine-point lead heading into the half, 28-19.
  • WLC forced 11 turnovers and was led by sophomore Jenna Mace (Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) with 12 points in the first half.
  • Edgewood cut the Warriors' lead to six points with 5:18 remaining in the third quarter, forcing WLC to call a timeout. Wisconsin Lutheran was able to extend its lead back to seven points after Kelly Tramburg hit a three-pointer right before the end of the third quarter.
  • The Eagles tied the game for the first time in the fourth quarter at 43-43 at the six-minute mark on a put back and-one by Alyssa Lemirande. The Warriors opened the game back up with an 11-2 run, pushing their lead to nine points with 2:26 left in the contest.
  • Once again, Edgewood cut the Warriors' lead to just five points with 1:33 left in the game, but Wisconsin Lutheran held off the Eagles' attack, defeating Edgewood 58-49.

  • Kelly Tramburg led all scorers, and three Warriors in double figures, with 20 points and nine rebounds.
  • Mace had 19 points and eight rebounds, while Brug contributed with 12 points and two steals.
  • WLC shot 41 percent (23-for-56) from the floor and grabbed 11 offensive rebounds.
  • The Warriors handed the Eagles their first loss of the season and won their 17th straight game over the visitors in the series.

  • Alyssa Lemirande led the Eagles with 20 points. Edgewood, which shot 39.2 percent from the floor, was held to 0-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc.
